FIM and TTXGP Partnership Makes "eMotoGP"

FIM and TTXGP have struck a deal, and this means the dawn of a new era in motorcycle racing: the era of electric MotoGP... or whatever they'll decide to call it.

While the name of the new series is of lesser importance, electric bike racing takes a huge step forward with this partnership. So far there are 4 races scheduled for the 2013 season, with the number increasing to 6 in 2014 and with a full series prospected for 2015.

The 2013 races will be hosted in Europe, North America and Asia, and gaining access to these 4 stages means that riders have to win the local e-bike series. Not all the details are clear yet, but the plans have been laid out and things are on the move.

Even more, electric sport bikes will be allowed to race against internal combustion road racing machines, with the power-to-weight ratio being the rating method for entering the bikes in the various classes. Brammo wanted to test their e-bikes against the traditional ones, and it looks like things are now moving faster. So it's not going to be too long until we have an eMotoGP. Great!
