Fido the Chihuahua Leads the Police on a Chase Across the Bay Bridge in SF

What happens when Fido, your little Chihuahua who was too cute to have neutered, smells the scent of Rosita, a female Bull Mastiff that is in heat? Well, because it's only the smell he can feel and, no matter how good dogs are at smelling, it can't always substitute sight, Fido will desperately want to meet Rosita.

So Fido will do everything he can to escape your vigilance, break out of his leash and go Rosita's way, come rain, snow, or a pack of angry Pit Bulls. You can also add a very, very long bridge on that list, as it so happened that Rosita lived on the other side of Bay Bridge from Fido.

But rest assured, if the humans hadn't bothered to build that structure, Fido would have had no problem swimming across. I mean, he would have obviously drowned, but he would have given it a try.

Fido and Rosita aside, we have no idea what exactly this poor dog was doing on the bridge linking Oakland to San Francisco, but it definitely looked like it had some serious business. In fact, it appeared as if the police were only there to escort it, as if it were some sort of presidential dog that only seemed to be lost, but was in fact on a trip concerning very important state affairs.

How else would you explain the fact that there's absolutely nobody the whole length of the bridge? Were they shooting a new The Walking Dead episode there? No, I'll tell you what happened: it was one of those cases when the police wash away all their sins and prove that, sometimes, they can be really nice guys.

We realize they're not doing this primarily for the dog's sake but to prevent a potential accident it might cause, but even so. The video ends when the dog realizes it's got a different kind of tail than he's used to and pulls a one-eighty on the cops. However, the description says that they've managed to catch it and it's now in animal custody, probably sleeping after what must have seemed like a marathon to it.
