Italian automaker is reportedly working on a new compact crossover. Underpinned by the same platform on which the Fiat 500X concept was built on, the new vehicle will hit the market under the Panda XL name.
Very few have been revealed besides the fact that it will be offered with a four-wheel drive option, but Autobild points out that the Panda XL will have little in common with the A-segment Panda model. As we already told you a while ago, the mysterious Fiat 500X concept will share its platform with a new entry-level Jeep model.
Production of the new Fiat Panda XL could start in 2014 at the Melfi plant in Southern Italy. Moving on to the weirder side of the report, our source claims that the Panda XL might rival the Nissan Qashqai. If this is true, then we have a case of “what are you really planning, Fiat”?
