Abarth, Fiat’s performance brand, is planning to develop more high-performance products for the Italian automaker, company boss Marco Magnanini revealed today.
Speaking to MSN Cars, Magnanini hinted that Abarth, who currently offers souped-up versions of the 500 and the Punto, may opt to upgrade other models as well, such as the Panda, but declined to offer further details.
However, our source claims the next vehicle in line might be the 500L, which could rival Mini’s Countryman Cooper S if fitted with the 180 bhp 1.4-liter turbo engine. “The 500 family will offer us options. We want to take our brand values to other cars. In future it is possible,” added Magnanini.
In other Abarth-related news, the Turin-based specialist has showcased two new special edition models at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show - the 595 50th Anniversary Edition and the 695 Tributo Maserati in Record Gray.
