The fact that Fiat is working hard to expand its US lineup is not a new thing anymore, especially since the Italians brought the tiny 500 in Chrysler's domestic market. And the next step in Fiat's evolution in the US is not only the relaunch of the Alfa Romeo brand but also the introduction of a B-segment car known under the name of Project L-Zero.
Not much is known about the car, but Fiat North America's Laura Soave said in an interview with Motor Trend that the new B-segment contender is likely to debut in 2013, but hasn't mentioned whether the car will come in the form of a sedan or a hatchback.
Now that Fiat is working hard on expanding its American lineup, rumors regarding a possible merger between Fiat and Chrysler emerged again and CEO of both companies Sergio Marchionne hasn't denied such a possibility
“Who knows? In the next two or three years, we could be looking at one entity. It could be based here,” he was quoted as saying by Autonews. "[We're considering a number of] alternatives and scenarios. First we need to integrate them operationally and then look at governance," he added.
In the meantime, Fiat is also gearing up for the 2011 Geneva Auto Show this March, a moment that will mark the revival of the Lancia brand, with some of its models to be based on Chrysler platforms. Lancia will thus present a whole new lineup at the Swiss show, including redesigned versions of the Thema, Flavia, Flavia Convertible and Grand Voyager.
Update: the Project L-Zero is to take place in Serbia startin in May or June of 2012. Read the full story here!
