When one says Fiat, the first thing that comes in mind is not exactly luxury. Sure, the name can be associated with iconic brands of the luxury segment, such as Ferrari, but when strictly speaking for the cars logoed Fiat, it’s all about mass production.
Take the Panda, for instance. The small car introduced way back in the 1980s has proven to be an immense hit specifically because it’s not running for the top spot in the luxury segment. And so it sold around 7.5 million units in the decades that have passed since, making it the most successful Fiat model ever.

With that in mind, this year the Italians decided to try giving the model more luxurious appointments, and they commissioned Italian fashion house Trussardi to help them. What resulted is what they call the “first luxury” Panda in history, but that's a bit of an overstatement.

Based on the Cross variant of the car, the Panda Trussardi is wrapped in a matt Caffè Italiano Brown color, the first time such a choice is used in the range. Also for the first time, the body of the car wears the logo of another company, in this case, you guessed, Trussardi.

Most of the unique luxury appointments are on the inside, but contrary to what we might have expected, they are neither numerous, nor spectacular.

The most visible feature is the Trussardi lettering and logo present everywhere: on the mats, the seat belts, door panel inserts, on the seat upholstery, and on the steering wheel. Then there’s the Caffè Italiano Brown finish and that’s about it.

Now, we’re pretty sure all these elements do not actually qualify to slap this Panda with the “luxury car” sticker.

But perhaps we’re missing something. Have a look at the Panda Trussardi in the press release section below and let us know.
