Fiat Indroduces Freemont in Russia

While the Fiat Freemont is just a rebadged Dodge Journey, that doesn’t make it a bad car, in fact, the Mexican-built car is doing very well in Italy, surprisingly. Now, however, Fiat has officially launched the Freemont in Russia, a country which will undoubtedly appreciate it even more.

It will be imported into Russia from Mexico, as Fiat currently has no plans for local production of the car. In fact, they import the 500 and Punto into the country as well, while sales of the imported Ducato commercial vehicle have been going very well for a few years, now.

With sales in the more mature markets on the decrease, Fiat is banking heavily on its Russian venture to bring in some much needed cash, in order for them to stay afloat, turn a profit, and get the story straight about Alfa Romeo and their future model line-up.

However, the group will take things further if all goes according to plan, as they are planning on building Jeeps at a production facility, just outside of St. Petersburg - ironic, really.
