Looking to go up against compact crossovers like the Mini Countryman and Nissan Juke, Fiat is getting ready to launch its all-new 500X. A new teaser video gives us our first official glimpse as Fiat’s newest model, and the timing of this teaser likely means that the Italian automaker is planning to debut the Fiat 500X next month at the Paris Motor Show.
The overall styling of the Fiat 500X is not too much of a surprise as we’ve seen plenty of hints in recent years including a secret preview back in 2012 and a look at the production-intent body shell back in May – not to mention numerous spy shots in the last year. In this relatively short video, we can see the front, rear and profile view of the Fiat 500X, which seems to have more in common with the styling of the iconic 500 rather than the less-attractive 500L.

Up front, the lights are egg-shaped similar to the 500L, and it should definitely have a rugged, SUV-like appearance with a jutting lower fascia. A similar look will be present at the rear with a blocky fascia and large, rectangular taillights. In profile, the 500X has a tall roofline with a large greenhouse, but its sloped D-pillar gives it a sporty look that we might expect from a four-door 500.

While we’ll have to wait another month to see the 500X in all its glory, we do know that it will share its underpinnings with the 2015 Jeep Renegade. This likely means that it will also share the engine offerings with the Jeep including the 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder and a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo. After its auto show debut on October 2nd or 3rd, we should see the 2016 Fiat 500X hit dealers early next year.

In the meantime, check out the teaser, which will probably be the first many, below.
