The Fiat-Chrysler has reportedly postponed the introduction of successors to the current Fiat Grande Punto and Bravo models, cars introduced in 2005 and 2007, respectively. This is not the group’s first such move, having also delayed the introduction of a successor to the now-defunct Alfa Romeo 159.
According to autoedizione.com, Fiat is looking into more efficient manufacturing techniques, in order to reduce costs, to build on the moderately-successful Bravo and Grande Punto models. The logical move at this point, in-keeping with the cost-cutting philosophy, the Bravo successor should be underpinned by the same platform which currently underpins the Alfa Giuletta and the Dodge Dart. The Grande Punto replacement could also use a shared platform, but it’s unclear at this point which one it could use.
The Fiat-Chrysler group is steadily growing and gaining financial stability, and despite delaying several models due to the unsettled (albeit growing) world car market, they definitely have some interesting cars in the pipeline.
