The complementary software update comes to MY2013-2015 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles, and it covers around two million units.

The update is available online at driveuconnect.com and FCA also presented a step-by-step guide for customers to install it themselves. You can find the video below.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has announced that clients of the vehicles suitable for this upgrade can also visit a dealership to implement it if they do not feel like doing it themselves.

However, the service appointment may include additional charges for the work, while the update remains free. If you do not feel confident about performing the update yourself, we recommend you to visit a dealer.

As you can surely imagine, Siri Eyes Free is a function that's only available to Apple iPhone users, beginning with the iPhone 4S and up. This means the update announced by FCA does not bring any benefits to Android, Blackberry or Windows Phone users.

For those of you wondering what this system does, here's a quick guide. Without looking at the phone or the multimedia unit, the user can press the voice command button on the steering wheel and then Apple's Siri virtual assistant kicks in. Siri can play music, send text messages, set reminders, access turn-by-turn directions, place phone calls, and more. It works with natural voice commands, as Siri users already know.

Beginning with the 2013 model year, FCA products with the Uconnect 8.4 touchscreen multimedia unit will be able to install the update and use the Siri Eyes Free functions. Ram models eligible for the update are as follows: 1500, 2500, and 3500 of the 2013-2015 model years.

Dodge's Viper can receive the update too. However, the Dodge Durango only gets the upgrade if it's of the 2014 or 2015 MY. Meanwhile, Dodge Challenger and Charger owners can install it only if the cars are of the 2015 model year.

In the case of Jeep, 2014 and 2015 Cherokee and Grand Cherokee models are suitable, as well as 2015 Renegade models. In the Chrysler range, the 2015 model year 200 and 300 models can support the update. The update instructions are the same for every vehicle mentioned above, as they share the multimedia interface, as long as the unit was ordered.
