Subcompact crossover, or as most European mainstream car companies like to call them "urban SUVs" are big business. This is not only true in France or Italy, but also in India, where people are crazy about offroad capabilities in really small packages.
Fiat has decided to capitalize on this popular market by showing a thinly veiled crossover concept at the ongoing New Delhi Auto Expo (5 to 11 February 2014). The vehicle is quite obviously based on the Grande Punto, not even the more recent Punto Evo models.
The "Avventura" offers a 200mm increase in ground clearance, plastic body cladding, a new grille and even a large spare tire, hinged at the bottom of the rear bumper. It's not something you see every day, nor is the interior, which is draped in grays and oranges. We love the re-trimmed orange clocks and the bezels fitted to the top of the air vents, which appear to be some sort of navigation instruments (as in compass, tilt and yaw indicators, not GPS).
If you want a Fiat that makes you go "there's something you don't see every day", check out the photo gallery below, which is packed with live photos courtesy of MotorBeam India.
