The 57th anniversary of a car doesn't sound like something to be celebrated, but we're glad Fiat made an event out of the 57th anniversary of the original 1957 "Nuova" Cinquecento and launched the Fiat 500 1957 Edition.
This sexy little car is going to be built in only 500 examples for US customers, arriving next spring. Showing us how to make a modern car look classy, Fiat have given the 1957 edition a choice of three retro colors – Bianco, Verde Chiaro and Celeste, which is this lovely shade of sky blue. All get plenty of chrome, and contrasting white for the roof and mirrors.
But the coolest exterior feature has to be retro-design 16-inch wheels, featuring a large hub cap, body-colored accent and chrome lip.
The retro theme continues inside, where the 500 1957 Edition offers Avorio (ivory) dash steering wheel and door trim with contrasting Marrone (brown) leather seats with contrasting stitching.
All the limited edition Cinquecentos will be powered by a 101-hp 1.4-liter MultiAir engine and offered with a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes. Order books will open next year, so pricing is not yet available. We expect the model to cost just under $20,000, not including destination.
