Two weeks after it has made its world debut in the flesh at the Paris Motor Show, the new Fiat 500X spawns a limited edition model dubbed Opening Edition. With pricing starting from €21,900 in its home market, the exclusive limited run of the B-segment crossover will total a mere 2,000 units.
So what sort of special touches differentiate it from the normal Fiat 500X we've seen live in Paris? Not much to be completely frank. The Opening Edition can be had in Italy, Germany, Spain, France and Switzerland in two distinctive aesthetic flavors.

The first of the lot is available with a number of three powertrain options: two front-wheel drive (aided by a 140 hp 1.4-liter petrol or a 120 hp 1.6-liter oil burner), as well as a 140 horsepower 2-liter turbo diesel that drives all four wheels of the Italian crossover model.

Beautified by a pastel Art Grey hue, the first flavor of the 500X Opening Edition adds many amenities such automatic climate control, 18-inch alloy rims, as well as keyless entry and go, tinted windows, a lot of Opening Edition badges and two neat equipment packages dubbed Safety and Comfort Pack.

Yes, the badging is the only exclusive thing about this 500X. As for the second flavor of the Opening Edition breed, this one is more, ahem, special than the first because it boasts exclusive tri-coat Amore Red exterior paint and a 4x4 system coupled to a 140 hp 2-liter turbo diesel mated to a 9-speed auto. Except for the special paint and special badging, there's nothing else really unique about it.

Editor's note: nice try Fiat, but we're not buying into your idea of "exclusive". Try harder next time.
