Fiat 500E with Forklift Mechanicals - Cheap to Run

The Germans have a knack for re-engineering and redesigning pretty much anything, and their efforts are usually highly successful. So to is the case with their Fiat 500 conversion to electric power. A company called Karabag has been selling and leasing their electric Fiat 500Es for a while now.
The converted car uses a 37.5-hp electric motor normally used to power forklifts. Due to the low output of the motor, the car’s top speed is only 105km/h (65mph) and its acceleration is only measured up to a speed of 50 km/h (30mph) and it is achieved in 8.5 seconds. The manufacturer claims that, with their system, the car has a maximum range of 100 km (62miles) as it extracts juice from its 11-kWh batteries.

To buy, the car will set you back €35,000 ($46,000) but it's the car’s lease price of €299 ($392) per month which is mor attractive. Its low lease price means, as stated by the manufacturer after serious calculations, that the car is cheaper to run than a standard petrol-powered model.
