The all-electric version of the Fiat 500, the 500e has now been fully revealed by the carmaker and we have to tell you that the engineers have places a lot of technical assets inside this little car.
The 500e is powered by an electric motor that delivers 111 hp and 147 lb-ft (Nm) of torque, which relies on a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and promises to offer an 80 mile+ (129 km) range. Fiat tells us that city driving can bring you over 100 miles (161 km) and that you can fully replenish the battery in under 4 hours using a 240V outlet.
Fiat has also used the common “tricks” carmakers turn to when releasing a more efficient version for a certain model, introducing 5-inch Firehawk GT low-rolling resistance tires, as well as aerodynamic tweaks that bring the drag coefficient from 0.36 to 0.31.
Inside the 500e, we find a seven-inch TFT screen that offers all the info you need, such as battery status, range and other. Owners will also receive an An iPhone and Android smartphone app that offers the aforementioned info, as well as a TomTom navigation system that includes special routes for EVs.
The list of active safety features offered by the car includes: Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), Electronic rollover mitigation (ERM), Hill-start Assist (HSA), as well as Brake Assist.
