Fiat 500 in Chrysler Showrooms from 2010

Americans have a new reason for joy, as Fiat decided to sell its funky little town car in Chrysler showrooms across the U.S. After the success of both competitors MINI and the New Beetle, the Italians are launching another revived classic on this market.

All three available versions of the 500 will be available in the USA, including the hatchback, the convertible and the sporty version modified by Abarth, according to Chrysler’s five year plan presented yesterday to the press.

Unfortunately, not all dealers will get the 500, as the company’s president of Network Development & Fleet, Peter M. Grady, told the press. The urban areas will be the main stages for selling the Italian mini, as the traffic in big cities will be easier to face in such a small car.

First the Americans will salute the arrival of the hatchback version powered by a 1.4 liters Multiair 4 cylinder gasoline engine. Sales will start in the fourth quarter of 2010. The next version on sale will be the fashionable convertible which will be on sale in 2011. The Americans will be able to buy an Abarth in 2012 and will feature the same four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

No marketing plan was revealed for the Fiat 500, but we are expecting a very large number of special editions and limited editions of all models. Also, Fiat plans to start building the small Fiat in Mexico.
