FIA WTCC Promoter Signs 2-Year Deal with Monroe

In a time when most motor racing series out there are losing sponsors due to the tough economic climate worldwide, the FIA World Touring Car Championship did just the opposite, managing to extend a fruitful partnership with suspension company Monroe.

According to a press release on FIA WTCC's official site, Monroe will become the series' official suspension partner for the 2010 and 2011 seasons, returning to the series after one year of absence in 2009. Monroe previously teamed up with the WTCC caravan in back-to-back seasons (2007 and 2008), and their recently signed partnership now includes TV coverage of the FIA WTCC on Eurosport TV channels and worldwide online visibility on Eurosport's and FIA WTCC's websites also.

In addition to that, Monroe will also become title sponsor for two of the 12 rounds of the 2010 calendar, namely the Race of Belgium (Zolder) and of the Race of Czech Republic (Brno). And, as a last detail of the new deal, Monroe will also present 2 fastest lap trophies at each FIA WTCC round – named Monroe Performer – one for a works driver and one for an independent one.

WTCC has been an excellent marketing and communication platform for both MONROE and its customers since 2007. Following the pause we felt it appropriate to take in 2009 due to the economic environment, we are delighted to invest again in our WTCC partnership," said Alex Gelbcke, Vice President and General Manager Aftermarket Europe for Tenneco which manufacturers and markets Monroe branded suspension worldwide, according to the press release.

Monroe is a very special partner for us, as it has been very active on WTCC in the past years. We are delighted to welcome Monroe back with such a strong commitment that underlines its loyalty to and trust in the continuous development of the WTCC brand," said Jacques Raynaud, Vice-Chairman of Eurosport Group and Eurosport Events.

Eurosport Events is currently promoter of the FIA WTCC series, through subsidiary firm KSO.
