Ferrari Unveils SE Scuderia Spider 16M

With the Formula 1 Constructor's World Championship 2008 title already accounted, the Italian carmaker Ferrari recently unveiled a special series Scuderia Spider 16M which incorporates “the very best of Ferrari's latest mid-rear-engined 8-cylinder technology.”

First of all, the special edition features. This model comes in two color schemes, with black and grey trim as standard and a tricolour livery available as option. The rear grille features a special plaque “commemorating Ferrari's 16th Constructor's World title” while the interior wears a “limited series” plaque installed on the dashboard.

And now, the technical specs, which by the way are said to more powerful than any other “Prancing Horse open-top road car yet built”.

The SE Scuderia Spider 16M is powered by a naturally aspired mid-rear V8 engine, with a displacement of 4308cc. The engine is said to produce a maximum power of 510 hp at 8500 rpm combined with a maximum torque of 470 Nm at 5250 rpm. Scuderia Spider 16M accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in no less than 3.7 seconds, with a maximum speed of 315 km/h.

The vehicle comes with a standard six-speed with reverse F1 gearbox, featuring a dry dual clutch and electronic differential E-diff + F1-Trac. Brakes are entirely based on discs on both the front and the rear, with aluminum 6-pot calipers and carbon-ceramic material. 19-inch five-spoke split rims are installed on front and rear with Pirelli Pzero tires (235/35 front and 285/35 rear).

Beside all of these, CST Stability and Traction Control System are installed as standard. “Steering wheel-mounted manettino with five settings to integrate the F1 gearbox, CST and F1-Trac (Stability and Traction Control System), suspension control,” Ferrari said in a press statement.
