Ferrari to Challenge for Podium in Monaco

Following his promising performance in the Spanish Grand Prix, where he almost scored a remarkable 4th place in the race, Felipe Massa has grown more confident ahead of the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix. While already benefiting from an improved Ferrari F60 – as compared to the non-European rounds of the F1 calendar – Massa revealed new aerodynamic tweaks will be introduced for the race in the Principality.

Having said that, the Brazilian driver expects Ferrari to really up their game in Monte Carlo. Meaning, if until now, Ferrari were praying for points, in Monaco they'll be challenging for a podium. Given the development work in Maranello during the past few weeks, Massa believes the new standard is achievable this weekend.

I really think that the Monte Carlo race can be the turning point in our season. We'll have new things in our aerodynamic package. We come from a start of the season that we didn't expect, however we've improved a lot, especially in the last race at Montmelo we saw some steps forward,” said Massa in an interview with Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

For all these reasons I believe in the first podium of the season, and also in our recovery. I'm here, I fight and push with the whole team to make things improve race by race. The time for a comeback always comes, and I'm certain it will. Today more than ever,” warned Massa.

While admitting challenging for the title – either constructors, or drivers – would be pointless this season, Massa believes Ferrari still has a lot to say in 2009. Ferrari are currently 62 points behind Brawn GP in the constructors' race, while Massa would have to make up for 38 points with 12 races to go.
