Ferrari to Avenge Italy's World Cup Fiasco

Since the FIFA World Cup in South Africa is currently the most watched event in the world, no matter the other competitions that are taking place between June 11 and Jung 11, the Formula One world aligned itself to the worldwide audience of the event. With each team or driver ruling for someone at the World Cup, the football fever is quite visible within the F1 paddock.

That being said, it's easy to assume that yesterday was not a good day for Ferrari, as their only favorites in the competition, the azzurri (blues), were knocked out from the very group stages. The reigning world champions lost 3-2 to Slovakia and will watch the rest of the World Cup from the comfort of their own homes.

The Ferrari drivers took the one and a half hour off yesterday to watch the match, together with the “journalists, guests and team personnel” in the hospitality area. Needless to say, they were all disappointed with the final result, and took it upon themselves to avenge that poor result with a good performance on Sunday.

With the Azzurri’s flag now packed away, it will be down to the Reds to uphold Italy’s sporting honour this weekend, for all Italian fans, for the Scuderia and to represent the nation,” concluded a Ferrari statement on the World Cup match, hinting that Ferrari will have one additional reason to fight for victory in Valencia.

The Scuderia will come to Valencia with a completely revised F10, comprising a new exhaust system and a changed rear suspension. Additionally, other aerodynamic features will be present on the improved car, which will likely see both Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa fight for better positions in Spain.
