Ferrari - The Most Reliable Team in 2010 Formula 1

Ferrari may not be ruling the 2010 Formula One championship, but the Scuderia has been by far the most reliable team in the series prior to the 13th round of the season. In the 12 races contested so far, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa managed to complete no less than 1471 of the possible 1474 laps on board of the Ferrari F10.

The only time the pair failed to cross the finish line together was in Malaysia, when Fernando Alonso experienced an engine burst and had to retire 3 laps from the finish line.

According to Germany's Auto Motor und Sport, Red Bull is the second most reliable team in Formula On at the moment, sitting 98 completed laps behind Ferrari in this unofficial classification. The irony in that is Red Bull is comfortably leading the championship in race wins and pole positions, while Ferrari are third overall, with only 2 wins in 12 rounds.

Furthermore, while Red Bull are leading the manufacturers' race, Ferrari's best placed driver is Fernando Alonso, in 5th place.

While Ferrari have never retired a driver from the race as a result of an accident, Red Bull experienced two such situations – one of which occurred between its own drivers, in Turkey – while McLaren had two technical failures and one accident retirement. 4th overall in the constructors' classification, Mercedes is another team that saw both drivers stay away from racing incidents until now (well, maybe Michael Schumacher's latest move on Rubens Barrichello doesn't fit that description).

Out of the first 5 teams in the classification, Renault are obviously the ones suffering from the most reliability problems, having to retire its drivers 4 times due to technical reasons and only 2 times due to racing incidents.

On the other end of the statistics we find the new teams, with a surprising Hispania Racing F1 Team leading the reliability race against Lotus F1 and Virgin. The Spanish team experienced only 8 technical failures until now, as compared to 9 from Lotus and 11 from Virgin.
