Ferrari, the Best of the Rest - Alonso

Fernando Alonso admitted that Ferrari can now be considered “the best of the rest”, at least as far as the Hungarian Grand Prix is concerned, and said that only a great start on Sunday can alter a potential 1-2 finish from Red Bull Racing.

The Austrian team once again dominated the qualifying running this season with a wonderful front row effort from Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. However, this is not the most worrying thing for their rivals, but the fact that Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa (Ferrari) finished Q3 more than one second behind.

I think we found a big gap between Red Bull and us this weekend. We maximised our potential today. We did our job to be the best of the rest. Congratulations to Red Bull, they have dominated the weekend and deserve this front row. Hopefully tomorrow we can make it difficult in the race because so far it has been too easy,” said 3rd positioned Alonso after the qualifying.

Once again, he’ll share the second row with teammate Felipe Massa, while championship leader Lewis Hamilton sits right behind him on the grid, in 5th place. Wanting to avoid a situation like the one in Great Britain – when he lost plenty of positions at the start – Alonso admitted he’s hopeful of a good start later today.

The start we know is important. We know at this track is very difficult to overtake. We know the strategy is important as well. The start, the first corner and the first lap is 60-70 percent of the final result. Hopefully we can make a good start like in Hockenheim, gain a position and fight a bit,” added the Spaniard.
