This year’s edition of the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este show in Italy should be something special, as a number of rare beauties from years gone will be attending. But the car that most of us were waiting for is a coachbuilt Ferrari convertible called the Superamerica 45.
It looks like the supermodel just couldn’t wait for her big day under the spotlight, and has revealed herself through a few shots of her curvaceous one-off body for all to see.
The Ferrari 599-based car belongs to New York collector and Prancing Horse enthusiast Peter Kalikow, who visited the factory to take delivery of his Special Projects Ferrari unique one-off model. Styled internally by Ferrari Design and engineered and built in-house, the car was specified by Mr Kalikow to celebrate 45 years since he first became a Ferrari client (hence the name) and will make its public debut tomorrow.
The biggest change over the standard 599 is the carbon-fiber rotating hard-top which incorporates a rear screen. In the front, the Ferrari Superamerica 45 also features a specific chromed front grille, special burnished aluminum A-pillars, wing mirrors and door handles have also been added, matching the color combination on the wheels.
Peter Kalikow wanted to match the body color of the car to another one of his favorites a 1961 400 Superamerica cabriolet nr. 2331SA- so the Superamerica 45 is finished in an exclusive Blu Antille. The wheels are painted in the same shade and sport a contrasting diamond finish to the spokes.
Meanwhile, the roof and other carbon-fiber elements of the bodywork (front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser) are all finished in a special contrasting darker blue, a theme that is carried over to the cockpit which features dark blue carbon-fiber dash trim and driver zone.
