Ferrari's 599 GTO Already Sold Out

Ferrari’s limited edition model 599 GTO is already sold out, according to reports cited by autoblog.com. The car has been officially presented yesterday at Modena’s Ducal Palace military academy, the same location where Maserati chose to showcase the Quattroporte Automatic three years ago.

The event was attended by the company’s highest officials: chairman Luca di Montezemolo, CEO Amedeo Felisa and vice-chairman Pierro Ferrari, son of the Italian marque’s founder, Enzo Ferrari. The grand gala also involved the participation of Ferrari factory test drivers and military cadets in front of some 500 clients. A pretty large showdown if we take into account the fact that the car they all came to see is already sold out.

According to reports, all 599 units that will be produced have already been booked by anxious customers. Imagine the reaction of the Chinese customers who will see the car later this month at the Beijing auto show and will want to buy it. They won’t be able to, unless they already signed up for one.

The 599 is powered by a V12 engine derived from the Enzo’s, which puts out 661 horsepower, 41 hp more than the standard 599 GTB. The car is not only more powerful than its sibling, but also a lot lighter. It has shed 430 lbs (195 kg), for a total weight of 3295 lbs (1495 kg). It is only logical that the performance is out of this world. The 599 GTO hits 62 mph in just 3.35 seconds and has a top speed of 208 mph (333 km/h). Not to mention that it is also faster than the Enzo round the Fiorano test track, posting a time of 1 minute 24 seconds, as compared to the Enzo’s 1 minute 24.9 seconds.

The price tag for all of this? Around USD460,000. But there's also good news: you don’t have to worry about raising the money anymore.
