It is official. Ferrari will be revealing the successor to the ultra-high-tech Enzo at the Detroit Motor Show, which starts in January 2013. We finally have the date and venue at which they will be revealing the car, all we need to do is wait and start counting the days.
The 900+ hp machine will feature a 7.3-liter V12 engine connected to a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) hybrid, which will boost both performance and efficiency. It is the compromise chosen by Ferrari, so as not to turbocharge the new flaghsip. However, since the old F40 was a turbocharged car, perhaps it wouldn’t be such a big break from tradition to stick one or two onto the engine.
A twin-turbocharged version of the 4.3-liter V8 found under the long bonnet of the California would have had no trouble being tuned to produce the same amount of power as the V12, yet more torque, while also using less fuel in the process... Turbocharging will definitely make its way on this car’s successor’s engine.
Also, if the 458 Italia is anything to go by (the only other similar car Ferrari make), styling will definitely be on the pretty side, and judging by the heavily-camouflaged prototypes we’ve seen, it will be quite similar in terms of overall look, albeit with an even lower and wider stance.
