Ferrari Returns to Need for Speed

A big part of a car brand’s image is constructed though movie and video game appearances. Aston Martin is James Bond’s cars, just like the BMW Z8. The Transporter drives an Audi while saving the girl and Ferrari has always been a big part of the video game industry. But for some reason - probably money - the Italian automaker was absent from the Need for Speed game for the past seven years.

EA Games has good news though, as Ferrari is getting back in the game. On February 16, Need for Speed Shift players will be able to download a pack which includes 10 Ferraris.

According to EA Games, “In addition to 10 new cars, the Ferrari Racing Series will also extend SHIFT's career mode with 46 new Ferrari specific challenges designed for the Ferrari cars to participate in including hot laps, eliminators, endurance races and a world tour.”

The Ferraris available include:
  • 1996 Ferrari F50 GT
  • 2005 Ferrari F430 Spider
  • 2005 Ferrari FXX
  • 2005 Ferrari Superamerica
  • 2006 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
  • 2006 Ferrari F430 Challenge (Online/Quick event only)
  • 2006 Ferrari F430 GTC (Online/Quick event only)
  • 2007 Ferrari 430 Scuderia
  • 2008 Ferrari California
  • 2008 Ferrari 16M Scuderia Spider

"Need for Speed is recognized globally for showcasing amazing cars, including some of the world's most desirable high-performance vehicles," said Keith Munro, vice president at EA. "We are thrilled to be partnering again with Ferrari."

If you have a Need for Speed SHIFT and Xbox LIVE account, you can download the Ferrari Racing pack exclusively on the Xbox 360 video game. The pack costs $10.00 or 800 Microsoft Points.
