Formula One’s top teams like Ferrari and Red Bull could join the emerging all-electric Formula E in the near future, Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E Holdings, said today.
“I’m sure teams like Ferrari and Red Bull will be in Formula E one day,” Agag told the German newspaper Die Welt, adding that former Formula One drivers will be driving in Formula E’s inaugural season next year.

Williams and McLaren are the first F1 teams to join the all-electric series. William will be supplying lithium batteries, while McLaren is developing motors and transmissions. Former F1 tire supplier Michelin and GP2’s Dallara have announced plans to participate as well.

Formula E will make its debut in 2014, with ten cities already confirmed as hosts for the world’s first single-seater EV series.
