To celebrate 60 years of operation in the U.S., Ferrari is getting ready to introduce a new commemorative model that will be limited to just 10 units. While the specific details of this car are largely unknown, Automotive News Europe is reporting that the special Ferrari will debut on October 12 wearing a price tag of about $3.2 million (2.5 million euros) with sales limited to U.S. buyers only.
In all likelihood, it is expected that this car will be based on the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, and it will add an exclusive exterior and interior design to account for the price jump of almost $3 million; a standard 2014 F12 Berlinetta starts at $318,888. Among the upgrades include a distinctive blue paint scheme with white stripes acting as a throwback to the Ferraris raced by the North American Racing Team (NART) from the 1960s through the 1980s. Big changes are also expected inside this car.

"We have developed a special car of which just 10 examples will be built, in addition to planning a major event in Los Angeles to bring together all our American clients and collectors, and a charity initiative,” said Chairman Luca di Montezemolo.

The launch of this ultra-limited-edition car will ironically mark the end of Montezemolo’s 23-year leadership role at Ferrari. The day after this big event, Montezemolo will be replaced by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne, who has been pushing for more volume from the supercar automaker. It has been reported that Montezemolo and Marchionne clashed over potential volume figures, which eventually led to Montezemolo stepping down effective October 13.

Sadly, if you haven’t already laid down your $3.2 million to add one of these cars to your collection, then you’re already too late as the report also states that all 10 examples have already been accounted for.
