Ferrari FXX K Evo Too Loud for Nurburgring, Lap Feels Like a Storm

In theory, blitzing the Nurburgring in a Ferrari FXX K Evo, which is the latest spec for the LaFerrari's racecar version, sound like a dream. And while this is also true for what happens in the real world, the details one had to set up for such an experience are anything but simple.
You see, the Green Hell recently hosted the Ferrari Racing Days 2019, with the fourth day of the said event seeing XX customer racecars being unleashed on the circuit.

You can check out the display of Prancing Horses in the YouTube video below. And, as the keen-eared among you will notice, the naturally aspirated V12 that makes up for 860 of the total 1,050 ponies (the rest come from an 190 hp electric motor) isn't quite as vocal as usual.

That's because Ferrari had installed special silencers - the Nurburgring has strict decibel limits (the general one sits at 95 dB, but, for instance, prototypes can go up to 100 dB) and the FXX K Evo did not meet these in standard trim.

For instance, a recent example of the sort involved the C7 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 test cars, whose silencers were all too easy to spot.

The YouTube clip below allows you to check out the Italian racecars doing their thing on the infamous German track from the normal Ring spotter perspective.

However, the Instagram post at the bottom of the page brings us the take of a driver who experienced the Fezza.

We're talking about an aficioando known as Powerslide Lover, who spent three laps behind the wheel of the Ferrari FXX K Evo owned by collector Greg.B 23.

And here's what the hooner, who is no stranger to the LaFerrari, had to say: "It never touched anywhere, it was very agile and it felt perfect there also if it has been developed for flat racetracks.Regarding time laps I did a 7:19 which in the Track Record Configuration would be 7:14 and the ideal time with the in and out laps 7:06. If I had another few laps to get the feeling of the car I could have gone below 7 minutes, although those are still close to the best road car times. I believe she can lap 30/40 seconds below 7 minutes,"

First of all I have to thank @gregb.23 for the incredible experience to drive his FXXK Evo in my beloved Nordschleife . I went in with a knife tucked away in my racing suit to be ready to kill myself in case of a crash, so I wouldn’t have to pay him back for the damage. I did just one in lap to warm up the tyres, one fast lap and one cool down lap. My first time ever driving the FXXK and it was my first time driving a race car with slick tyres on the Nordschleife. I was fast but not at my limit and far from the car’s limit. I was scared of bottoming out, because all that carbonfiber costs like my daughter’s life and if the car bounced, we would have gone straight into the barriers. I have to say that the car is impressive. It never touched anywhere, it was very agile and it felt perfect there also if it has been developed for flat racetracks. I felt happy like very few times in car. The whole Nordschleife was just for me and other two cars in one of my dream cars. What a fantastic experience! Regarding time laps I did a 7:19 which in the Track Record Configuration would be 7:14 and the ideal time with the in and out laps 7:06. If I had another few laps to get the feeling of the car I could have gone below 7 minutes, although those are still close to the best road car times. I believe she can lap 30/40 seconds below 7 minutes. #FXXKEvo #FXXK #Ferrari #DrivingFerrari #CorseClienti #Nurburgring #Nordschleife #car #cars #sportscar #supercar #auto #automotive #drivetastefully #neverenoughhp #iamallergictotractioncontrol #powerslidelover
