Ferrari FXX K and McLaren P1 GTR Sound Comparison, Which Is Better?

It should be said from the start this is a very unbalanced comparison, no matter what the power figures might tell you. It all hangs on the way that power is produced.
The McLaren P1 GTR is a limited edition track weapon that's considered the company's fastest ever production model. It develops 986 hp (a round 1,000 PS). Compared to the standard car, the twin-turbo V8 delivers an extra 62 hp, while the electric motor offers a 20 hp premium.

Moreover, the P1 GTR comes with some circuit specific modifications over the standard McLaren P1 model like the fixed ride height on race-prepared suspension or the fixed rear wing capable of using DRS.

It still uses the 3.8 twin-turbo V8 engine,

In the opposite corner, we have the awesome Ferrari FXX-K that dishes a similar power output of 1,050 hp, but from a very different source. The FXX-K uses a hybrid powertrain just like the McLaren P1 GTR, but the internal combustion engine part is being covered by a 6.3 naturally aspirated V12 engine this time.

Hence the very different sounds these two cars produce

If you close your eyes, you could almost mistake the Ferrari FXX-K for a Formula One car. It's got that racing, high-pitched tune we're used to hearing coming out of our TV sets when we leave the race on and go do something more exciting like peel some potatoes.

And then there's the McLaren P1 GTR with its more guttural, bass note you would expect from a V8. It's also the more discreet of the two, acting closer to its stealth fighter looks than the louder Italian. If the Ferrari sounds like a Formula One single-seater, the P1 GTR reminds us of WWII fighter jets.

As difficult as picking a winner might be, we have to hand it to the guys at Ferrari - the FXX-K sounds pretty sweet, just like a track-only car should. The McLaren P1 GTR, on the other hand, is the kind of car that doesn't make a big fuss about its potential - a silent killer, and we like that too. But this is a sound contest, so the winner has to be the Ferrari FXX-K. Do you agree?
