Ferrari Flambe, from the Romanian Cuisine

We are getting used to write about Europeans with a particular social level, that afford a luxury sports car, and get involved in a crash, destroying vehicles of hundreds of thousands dollars.

This time, a Romanian owner lost control of his Ferrari F430 and was about to end the life of seven people on Monday, as related by Mediafax.

The car was almost totaled after it skid due to the speed and wet road and hit other two cars that were traveling from the opposite direction. It then burst into flames. The accident occurred on DN1, in a curve, close to the entrance in Sibiu (the European Capital of Culture in 2007).

“The Ferrari came spinning, hit us in the back, which made our car turn and hit the bridge, and then we ended in the ditch. The road was wet, he came with speed and lost control,”
said Robert Retincu, the driver of one of the cars hit by the Ferrari.

Following the impact, the Ferrari went off the road and caught fire. The car, worth over $140,000, burned almost completly before  the firemen were able to extinguish the fire.

"Following the accident, the fuel pipes have cleaved, then the fuel came on the overheated engine parts and ignited," said captain Florin Vacaroiu of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Sibiu.

The driver and the female passenger on the right have managed to exit the car before the flames started, and no other victims were reported.

"We continue to look into all the circumstances and causes which led to this accident,"
Inspector John Draghiciu from the local road police added.

Fortunately, the F430 was insured, so the driver will only have to pay a fine of ... $61.
