Ferrari FF Displays Apple CarPlay in Geneva

Ferrari’s main Geneva attraction may be the pair of IHI turbochagers found under the hood of the California T, but the carmaker also has an infotainment effort to showcase at the Swiss event. We’re talking about its Apple CarPlay in-car media interface.
As you may already know, Apple’s CarPlay interface means you can have you car’s infotainment system behave like an iPhone. This can be accessed via the touchscreen or using Siri voice control.

Ferrari explained that you can already order the Apple CarPlay feature on its models, showcasing this on an FF in Geneva, as you can see in the adjacent video.

The Italian carmaker claims it is the first brand in the world to offer Apple CarPlay. “These two strong brands are today pleased to announce the integration of Apple CarPlay in the FF,” Ferrari Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, said. ”We’re the first in the world to commercialise this.”

Despite this, a number of other carmakers have announced the integration of Apple’s latest tech toy. In fact, the Californian company’s website allows us to see that the list of brands to offer CarPlay this year also includes Honda, hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes-benz and Volvo.

There’s also a second wave of automakers, including BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Kia, Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Puegeot Citroen, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyta. BMW is of particular interest here - the Germans previously had the deepest iPhone integration on the market and they probably want to spend some extra time offering that until they switch to the new industry standard.

We can’t help but mention Ferrari’s infotainment offerings have fallen behind the overall level of their vehicles, so any upgrade is more than welcome.
