Ferrari F430 to Be Auctioned for the Abruzzo Region

The devastating earthquake which has struck the Abruzzo region in Italy in the beginning of April has raised support from all around the world. The automotive industry tries to lend a hand as well, this time with Ferrari's announcement that it will auction the "very last F430 to leave the production line towards the end of this year" and donate the money for the reconstruction of the region. The event will take place on Sunday, as part of the RM Auction.

This special Ferrari F430 will pay a tribute to the city of Aquila, the one which got hit the worst by the quake. It will feature a special two-tone livery which recalls the traditional colors of that city and will be consigned with a certificate signed by Ferrari Chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, and a personalized dedication plate.

As the car will be sold prior to production, the customer who will pay the most for it will be invited to Maranello to choose the specifications of the car. Ferrari will additionally fit it with a number of options from its extensive Carrozzeria Scaglietti catalogue.

As for the performances of the F430, the car uses a 4.4l V8 engine, developing 490 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 465 Nm at 5,250 rpm. Mated to a F1 gearbox with paddle shift, the F430 reaches 100 km/hour from a standstill in 4 seconds and tops at 315 km/hour (196 mph).

Eating around 15.2l/100 km in combined cycle, the Ferrari F430 releases 345g of CO2 every kilometer. It makes use of the electronic differential developed initially for the F1 cars and the manettino switch on the steering wheel which directly governs the vehicle’s dynamic set-up.
