Now that the press days of the Frankfurt Motor Show have passed, we're wondering about the timetable Ferrari has chosen for the introduction of the F12's sharpened-up incarnation, which you can see spied in the video below.
Tentatively named F12 GTO or Speciale (we wouldn't bet on the latter though), the vehicle is now in its final testing phase, with a pre-production unit being spotted running around in Maranello.

The grand tourer is still covered in camouflage, but we'll remind you the vehicle had already been photographed naked, albeit not dressed in Rosso Corsa as the vehicle seen here.

That's how we were convinced the F12 GTO would sport carbon fiber body parts, as well as rear fenders that remind us of the iconic 250 GTO.

Speaking of carbon fiber, the F12 GTO is expected to pack a noticeable performance boost, one that will be mostly owed to a serious diet.

While Italian exotics usually lose about 200 lbs or so (100 kg) with such special incarnations, wild rumors talk of Ferrari engineers striving to shave double that amount of weight off the car.

In the power department, the naturally-aspirated V12 of the F12berlinetta should be pushed at least 30 hp over its current 730 hp output. As for the soundtrack, expect this to be nothing short of memorable.

Sure, Lamborghinis are show-stoppers and Bentleys offer supreme GT comfort, but the F12berlinetta is the must-have machine when seeking the fastest GT thrills out there. And with such an effervescent starting point, we expect the GTO incarnation to be one mind-blowing machine.

The reasonable thing to do for the Prancing Horse would be to introduce the whipped F12 at the Geneva Motor Show in Spring 2016. Then again, you don't exactly build a faster V12 Ferrari to be reasonable, so we can't be sure of the timing for now.
