Ferrari F12 Driver Gets His Car Towed Away for Anti-Social Driving

Remember that controversial decision through which London’s officials banned supercar owners from revving the engines of their cars in the city because of noise pollution? Well, that’s not the only place in the UK to apply this practice, as a £200,000 ($305,282) worth Ferrari F12 was recently towed away by police in Northampton Town Center as part of a crackdown on so-called anti-social driving.

Hey, we get it, some petrolheads with a soft spot for powerful engines seldom like to pull a show-off and perhaps disturb passers-by while at it. But being rude does not necessarily mean you’re deemed to get a fine, does it? Well, if your action defies section 59 of the Police Reform Act, then things may take an unwanted detour during your joyride.

According to Northampton Chronicle, the owners of the Ferrari F12 had already been given warnings under the regulation mentioned above, which allows officers to penalize persistent noisy motorists. How bad was it, one may wonder. Well, according to the tweets posted by Special Inspector Anthony Rawson of the Northamptonshire Safer Roads Team, the driver was seen using the luxury sportscar “in a manner likely to cause alarm, distress or annoyance.”

However, it should be mentioned that the driver will not face a fine, but will have to pay a fixed fee to get his car back. Some may think the matter is entirely subjective, and that the level of discontent triggered by the revving of an Italian exotic could be a matter of perspective, but according to the inspector, he was entitled to his decision.

“The aim of this is to deter this type of driving and hopefully avoid people committing more serious offenses such as careless or dangerous driving and injuring themselves or others by the manner of their driving,” said Rawson. The inspector has added that this is the first time a Ferrari has been seized under the Act in Northamptonshire.
