Ferrari 'Extremely Happy' with Constructors' Title

Although there was little to celebrate for Felipe Massa after a dramatic race in Brazil, Ferrari had everything to gain as a team at the finish line. Thanks to both driver climbing the overall podium at Interlagos, Ferrari retained their championship crown in the constructors' classification. With Massa unlucky enough to lose the chance to grab the world crown in the last few corners of the race, teammate Kimi Raikkonen insisted Ferrari should be proud of the their achievements in 2008.

“For us we won the teams championship and it was unlucky for Felipe but that was one of our aims, that is what we wanted. It was not the easiest thing for the team but we got the good results for the team and we must be happy. It hasn't been an easy year all the way through but I am very happy with that,” argued the former F1 champion after the Interlagos thriller.

Team manager Stefano Domenicali also insisted that the season ended with mixed feelings for both him and his team, but admitted winning the 8th constructors' title in the last 10 years is certainly a great boost for his team. In his first year of replacing legendary Jean Todt as Ferrari's boss, Domenicali led his team to another world crown.

“The only thing I can say is that we are extremely happy with the achievement we have done today on the Constructors' Championship. In eight of the last 10 years we were champions. It is something only Ferrari did so I am very proud of the team, and all of the guys - here and those at home. For us it is a great achievement,” said Domenicali.

When asked if he would have rather see Massa win the title than Ferrari clinch another Constructors' crown, Domenicali had no doubts: “No. I think to be honest, I am very proud of what we achieved. I am very proud to have Felipe in our team, because that is the way that we should look ahead for our future. You know, we are still very hot after the end of racing, but you can be sure that after a couple of days we will be fully committed for next season. For Felipe to lose the championship by one point, as it was last time but the other way around, I know it can hurt.”

Ferrari closed the season 21 points ahead of McLaren Mercedes in the Constructors' Classification, with BMW Sauber completing the overall podium 16 points further in the back.
