Ferrari Congratulate Barrichello for 300th Grand Prix in F1

Although as focused as ever on developing a competitive, race-winning machine for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, at Spa-Francorchamps, the guys at Ferrari did not forget about one important event that will take place on Sunday. Rubens Barrichello will start his 300th grand prix, a truly remarkable landmark in the history of the Great Circus.

Even if we've covered this topic yesterday, when we gave you a glimpse into Barrichello's 18-year career in F1, we're now piggybacking it with some official congratulations coming from Maranello to their former driver.

In Spa, Rubens celebrates his three hundredth Grand Prix participation, which is a remarkable achievement. On behalf of everyone at Ferrari, I congratulate him and wish him all the best, as he was part of our team when it was living through a great period in its history and he made a very significant contribution to our success at that time,” said Ferrari's boss Stefano Domenicali in a statement.

Rubens Barrichello indeed spent 6 fruitful years at Ferrari, during which the Scuderia went on to win 5 constructors titles, while “general” Michael Schumacher was helped to achieve a similar feat by the same Brazilian. His statistics were not bad either as the 38-year old scored his maiden F1 win in an all-red race suit – 2000 German GP, at Hockenheim – and concluded his 6-year stay at Maranello with 9 wins, 55 podiums, 11 pole positions, 15 fastest laps and 71 points finishes in 104 grands prix.

Additionally, while scoring an overall 412 points for Ferrari, he finished runner-up in the overall classification two times, in 2002 and 2004.

Coincidentally and strangely enough, his “buddy” Michael Schumacher also has reasons to celebrate this weekend, as the 2010 Belgian Grand Prix will be his 19th anniversary in Formula One (he debuted in the series in 1991, at Spa-Francorchamps).
