Ferrari scale models are probably the most popular collectables with young car fans from across the world. Since most grow up idolizing the Prancing Horse supercars on their walls, adding a 1:18 or 1:43 toy seems like the natural next step. Today, we bring you a new one, launched only two days ago and not even available in shops yet.
We're talking about a 1:18 scale version of the new Ferrari California T, the revamped version of the 2-seater convertible they launched in Geneva. The Italians spent a lot of money to ensure we now take their cheapest car very seriously and this clearly shows in the design of the scale model, which is much more interesting to look at than old Californias.

The models are made by a Japanese company called MR Collection, who specializes in diecast replicas. They say the California T will soon be available in the following colors: Rosso California, Blu Ribot, Bianco Italia, Rosso Corsa, Grigio Silverstone and Rosso Scuderia.

MR Collection also makes a 1:43 scale display, which you can check in the gallery below. This one features a carbon-look base, a yellow Ferrari logo in the middle and two California T models, one with the roof up and the other with it down. However, they only made 25 of those and sold all of them for €609.

Why the Ferrari California T s COOL

When Ferrari conceived the California, they wanted it to become their cheapest and best selling model. Yet between using a Maserati platform, chopping all the rigidity out of it and using an underpowered engine, they ended up with a complete flop.

The California T acts not only as a major facelift, but also marks the return of the Prancing horse to forced induction. Under the bonnet of the real thing is a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 560 horsepower, 70 more than before. Torque is also up, which means 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.6 seconds is possible. The 458 is expected to follow its turbocharged lead with an updated model likely to be called 458M.
