Ferrari Boss Praises Raikkonen's Comeback

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali must be thrilled with how things went for his team during the Monaco Grand Prix. While suggesting the Ferrari F60 could have done an even better job in the Principality last weekend, the Italian boss stressed the impressive step in performance managed by the Maranello outfit.

In addition to the obvious pace gained by the “B” version of the F60 – especially revised for the European rounds of the F1 championship – Domenicali also hailed Kimi Raikkonen's comeback. The Fin scored his team's maiden podium this season, crossing the finish line ahead of teammate Felipe Massa. After missing pole position by only 0.025 seconds and securing a sage 3rd spot in the race, Raikkonen proved his talent once again, believes Domenicali.

I'm particularly happy for Kimi, he had a wonderful weekend: he missed the pole by a blink of the eye and in the race he might have done better, if there hadn't been the problem during his second pitstop. On a track where talent is important Kimi has shown what he is able to do,” said the Italian boss in a review of the Monte Carlo event.

In addition, he praised the team's efforts to turning the F60 into a front-runner again, as Ferrari have managed to become the second best team from the F1 field in a matter of weeks. He expects even more development work to get under way in order to further improve the 2009 challenger ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix, scheduled on June 5-7.

We're heading in the right direction, which is very important after the first part of this very difficult championship. The positive signs we've seen at Barcelona have been confirmed at Monaco,” added Domenicali.

Thanks to Ferrari's 3-4 finish in Monaco, the Italian constructor is now 4th overall in the point standings, meaning a 3-place boost as compared to before the Monte Carlo round.
