Ferrari 812 TDF Rendered, Still Looks Subtle

While we're not expecting to see the special based on the Ferrari 812 Superfast too soon, the Internet doesn't like to be kept waiting, so I've brought along a rendering that showcases the expected Prancing Horse.

Tentatively dubbed 812 TDF or GTO, you should expect the V12 toy to receive a different name en route to production. As for why we don't expect to meet the Prancing Horse this year, for instance, that's because Ferrari just dropped the 812 GTS bomb.

Sure, Maranello's history is loaded with open-top models animated by V12s, but the predecessors of the 812 GTS, such as the F12-based F60 America or the 599-based SA Aperta came as limited editions, which were only offered to VIP customers, which isn't the case for the newcomer.

Of course, those wishing to grab an uber-special 812 can still go for the Monza SP1 and SP2, which mark the start of a new chapter in the Ferrari book, namely the Icona series.

In fact, the arrival of the GTS might just mean that, once the Italians are ready to dial things up to eleven, we'll get not one, but two spiced-up 812s, with one based on the Coupe and the other on the open-top model.

The Tour De France incarnation of the F12 was rather extreme to drive, with the 812 feeling much closer to the GT spririt. So while the sheer nature of the upcoming 812 special requires added drama, we'll have to wait and see how far the model will be taken in terms of the hardcore driving experience.

Meanwhile, the pixel play we have here takes a rather subtle approach, adding the necessary aero tweaks without screaming at us. Even so, you can almost hear the N/A V12 screaming while checking out these images and in this age of emission regulation pressure, such aural adventures shouldn't be taken lightly.
