Ferrari has a history with Monza, both the racing circuit and the name. The 860 Monza embodies the automaker's sports car racing ambitions from that era, sporting the 3.4-liter Lampredi four-cylinder. The 250 Testa Rossa serves as the successor, and in addition to the lovely name, the pontoon fenders are on a different level of automotive beauty.
According to Marcel Massini, "expect a modern interpretation of the pontoon-fendered TR" to be revealed on September 17th, 2018. In keeping with the original, the newcomer will feature a V12 with natural aspiration. Related to the 812 Superfast and codenamed F176, the car in question is expected to be called 812 Monza.

Word on Ferrari Chat suggests the derivative model "is limited to 200 units" which have been "allocated to top-tier clients." The 812 Monza "has no roof or windscreen," and future owners have been invited to the "factory launch on September 18th."

A forum member questioned the authenticity of the information, to which Marcel Massini replied: "there was, but it fooled everybody as it looked identical to a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss." As for the pricing, there are conflicting views on Ferrari Chat, with one member expecting €1.2 million while another heard the 812 Monza would retail at $2.5 million.

The silhouette of the vehicle pictured in the teaser confirms the curvaceous lines of the body shell, but other than that, it is anybody's guess what the 812 Monza looks in the flesh. Hearsay also suggests Ferrari will drop the successor to the F12tdf no later than 2020, also based on the 812 Superfast.

On a related note, there's talk about the 488 Pista Aperta dropping at the end of August 2018 at Pebble Beach. As the name suggests, the Aperta is the open-top body style of the 488 Pista that came to be as a response to the McLaren 720S. If the wildest of rumors are to be believed, the 488 Pista Aperta could feature a targa top.

"What does Icona Ferrari mean, though?" Icona is Italian for icon, which gives us the feeling that the 812 Monza will be an instant collector's piece.
