Ferrari 599 Replacement Is Called the F620?

Does it really matter what Ferrari call a brand new GT supercar? It most definitely does if this gives us an insight into what’s under the bonnet. According to the German publication AutoBild, the replacement for the 599 GTB Fiorano will be known as the F620 and it will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The ‘620’ is an indication that the car uses the new V12 found in the FF that displaces 6,262 cubic centimeters. But unlike the all-wheel drive Ferrari Four, this will have a full 710 PS to rival the Lamborghini Aventador. It will also be about 90 kilos lighter than the FF.

Further down the power chain, we find a dual-clutch transmission, as well as an F1-inspired electronic differential.

The car reportedly makes use of a lot of aluminum to save weight, as carbon fiber might be a bit impractical and would add to the cost of the car.

Our take: rumors indicated the 458 Italia was to be called the F450, so until Ferrari shows its real numbers, we’ll take it with a grain of salt.
