Sure, the thing marked the platform's entry to the twin-turbo world, but certain owners couldn't help but feel it could do with even more muscle. The matter has been addressed, with collectors getting their hands on the stronger, lighter Pista, while "stadard" buyers are now offered the F8 Tributo.
One needs a VIP status in order to be offered a Pista, with this obviously requiring a serious purchase history with Maranello. Then again, not all owners keep their limited editions locked away in garages.
For instance, the example we have here is used for drag racing - the Italian exotic recently got into a velocity fight with an Audi R8. We're talking about a second-gen R8, the pre-facelift model.
And, judging by what we can see in the footage below, which documents the race, the German toy has been taken down the aftermarket path (its 5.2-liter V10 delivers 610 hp in stock form).
Alas, the drivers chose to skip the drag strip and battle it out on the street. In fact, this is one of those races that's over before too many bets are made.
According to social media gossip, this Prancing Horse had also been modded, albeit packing light goodies, so it delivers more than the 720 hp of the factory model.
Even so, when it comes to the aural part of the battle, the Audi R8, with its naturally aspirated heart, manages to grab the win without even trying.
