With the introduction of the 488 GTB, Ferrari has done much more than just marking its return to the turbo philosophy (F40 thoughts, anybody?).
For one thing, the Prancing Horse has made a risky bet, turning its V8 model into a contraption that can be quicker than its aging V12 creation, the F12berlinetta.

In fact, we're here to show you what happens when a 488 meets an F12. Fortunately, though, this isn't your average street race. Instead, we're dealing with an airfield battle here, with the two Maranello machines having met at a recent Californian event held by a velocity-friendly crew named Shifts3ctor.

The V12-animated Fezza and its twin-turbo friend went for a half-mile drag race, while choosing a standing start. As any respectable 1/2-mile event, the one we have here packs a pair of speed traps at the end, so we can see exactly how well each of the Ferrari did in terms of turning against its own kind.

Then there's the aural side of this hot battle. This is an area where all the efforts done by the Maranello engineers for the brilliant 3.9-liter V8 occupying the middle section of the 488 pale, as the F12's naturally aspirated, high-revving soundtrack is simply one of the best you can find in a showroom nowadays.

Let's talk camera angles, shall we?

As for the footage that awaits you behind the "play" button below, we're dealing with a piece that can be labeled as a complete package. We get to see the take-off, as well as the finish line, but this isn't all.

No, we're not referring to the pretty girl who plays the Christmas Tree role. Instead, we're talking about each of the Ferraris wearing a GoPro, which allows us to check out all the spicy moments deliverd by this straight line adventure.
