Ferrari 488 GTB Is Fast and Enjoyable, Chris Harris Says

Yes folks, the reviews for the Ferrari 488 GTB are starting to come out, and we're going to take a quick look at an 18-minute one from Chris Harris on Cars. Why? Because Ferrari hated him and banned the guy from driving their supercars a short while back.

All is well now and even though Chris didn’t have much time to spend with the car, he still told us everything we needed to know, with a track and road test.

The new 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 is the focal point of the whole story, a source of both controversy and excitement. It puts out 670 PS at 8,000rpm and 760 Nm (560 lb-ft) of torque from 3,000rpm. Harris says it doesn't sound turbocharged, but feels so pulling out of the corner.

Ferrari might have a few kinks to work out. For example, at the 6:16 minute mark, you can see that the glove compartment pops open for no reason. But, for the most part, this is probably going to be remembered as a better car than the 458 Italia. The steering is better, and the dampers work with you to find more grip, we find out. Ferrari probably knows the old car was a bit too much to handle for some of its customers.

The show is just as entertaining as the car itself because we just found out quite a few interesting bits of information. Everybody knows Harris announced he was going to quit Drive and do his own thing. But we wondered how he was able to do so, keeping the same impressive HD video footage quality without a budget. Well, the motoring journalist has one from an unexpected source.

There are currently 1,417 people supporting him on Patreon, a website that lets you give money to artists and musicians so that they can do their thing. Harris describes himself as being "smaller and less funny than Clarkson - but I can drive okay!". With about $6,000 being donated every month, he was the financial power to continue filming slow-motion tire torture.
