Ferrari 488 Drag Races Tuned BMW M3, The Fight Is Brutal

Let's say you decide to hit the drag strip in a Ferrari 488 GTB and an F80 (the current generation) BMW M3 pulls up next to you. Are there reasons to be worried? Well, in theory, if the Bavarian fighter comes in stock condition, there's no sense in fretting.

However, real life sometimes brings more complicated situations and we're here to deliver an example of that.

We're looking at a sprinting brawl involving stock examples of the Prancing Horse and the M car. Fortunately, the aficionados behind the wheel decided to take things to the drag strip, meaning they kept things on the safe side and were able to benefit from the prepped surface - we're dealing with a pair of rear-paw toys, remember?

You don't have to take a look at the Italian exotic to know this is considerably quicker than the super-sedan. However, if we take a look at the numbers, it becomes even more obvious that the gap between the 670 hp supercar and the 431 hp is hefty.

For the love of power-to-weight ratio, the Fezza comes with 2.4 kilos/hp, while the Bimmer burdens each of its horses with 4 kg.

Then again, we're looking for the quarter-mile numbers of the two. Well, as magazine tests have shown, the Ferrari 488 GTB needs 10.3 seconds to complete the 1,320 feet task, while the F80 BMW M3 requires at least 11.8 seconds for this game.

Well, let's just say that things didn't quite go according to the plan for the guy in the Ferrari, as you'll be able to notice in the piece of footage below. Of course, this only meant the race kept the audience on its toes from start to finish, which is why we have to applaud the effort.

And while we have no idea on the condition of the Ferrari's tires, this is an important factor when it comes to the quarter-mile sprint, so perhaps the rubber deserves a part of the blame.
