When Ferrari released the 458 Speciale, the connoisseurs knew that the 458 was approaching the last part of its lifecycle. Now we have the confirmation for that, with Ferrari recently being spied testing the supercar’s replacement.
The white test vehicle is a test mule, as you can see by the loose fit and finish in the wheelarch area, Then again, we are talking about an early development stage, so this only comes natural. In case you were wondering, the car was out to play in Northern Sweden.

We wouldn’t have expected to see a 458 test mule doing anything else than going sideways and this is precisely how the spied vehicle is rolling. Nonetheless, we hope that the 458 replacement won’t have the oversteer issues of the current model.

Yes, the Ferrari 458’s E-Diff active rear differential and F1 Trac clever electronics bring quite a nice balance when you’re drifting, but the supercar is simply too addicted to sliding. There are quite a lot of occasions when you’re not in the mood to let the back out, but the 458 decides to do so. The 458 Speciale, with its Slip Angle Control software, addressees the problem, but not entirely.

As for what will be found at the center of the car, the Prancing Horse could include a turbocharged V8 in its offer now that it has returned to forced induction. It is pretty likely for this to depend on the customer response to the California T.

Having seen this mule, we expect to encounter the first Ferrari 458 successor prototypes in about one year from now.
