Ferrari 458 Italia by Oakley Design Goes to SEMA 2010

Some while ago, we were reporting on a limited edition conversion of the Ferrari 458 Italia made by the team at Oakley Design. Now, the tuning company announced that one of the first production models will debut at the upcoming SEMA show next week.

Those wanting the Oakley Design tuning kit, but not able to get one of the five limited edition models, can purchase parts individually from the firm.

The vehicle on display at SEMA will come equipped exclusively with HRE custom forged P40S Monoblok wheels. The wheels offer a larger footprint while actually reducing overall weight when compared to the factory OEM wheels. This reduction in mass improves handling, braking and even acceleration.

Performance wise, an ECU remap boosts the power from 570 hp to 627 hp, while torque is pushed from 540 Nm to 567 Nm. With 65 kilos less and a bit more powerful, the factory 3.4 sec 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time drops to around 3.0 seconds, while top speed has been rated at over 330 km/h (205 mph).

Aerodynamics are improved with a front spoiler that "adds 45kg of down force" to the front end at a speed of 150 mph (241 km/h).  The new rear spoiler with a Gurney flap adds 25kg of downforce.  At the same time, airflow is improved with the central radiator vent, radiator exhausts next to the headlights, stylized side sills, and new rear and underbody diffuser.

As said, production will be limited to just 5 cars, each bearing a unique build number plaque. Outside of this Limited Edition model, individual parts will also be made available for clients who do not require the complete package.
