The iconic Nurburgring track is a very popular location for automobile testing, and the perfect place for our skilled photographers to stalk the latest vehicle coming from all over the world.
Unfortunately, the German course is also known for hosting several high-speed crashes. Whether they occur during official testing, like the 2014 BMW M3 prototype we’ve seen last month, or on public open track days, where we would like to mention the Opel Speedster and Renault Megane RS from earlier this year.
The good part is that very few of them leave their drivers injured, but most of the owners have to cope with heavy damage or totaled cars after hitting the track’s guard rail. Some of those vehicles are quite expensive and rare, like the Ferrari 458 Challenge you’re about to see below. T
There’s no aftermath footage included, but the video shows the 570-hp racer crashed at 220 km/h (137 mph), which can’t be good no matter how you put it. However, the YouTube user that upload the clip says both the driver and the passenger were lucky enough to make it through unscathed.
