It was a sad Valentine’s Day for a couple of luxury car owners in Australia, as their cars were set on fire by a suspected arsonist exactly on February 14. According to the Perth Police Department, the damages rise to about AUD850,000. Quite a lot, right?
Well, while we might scoff at a Ferrari 360 or a Maserati Spyder, the prices in Australia are quite different from the rest of the world. To be more precise, luxury models have eye-watering tags on them that can go as high as what we’re telling you here.

According to local newspaper Perth Now, the Ferrari was supposedly worth around AUD450,000 while the other Italian car wore a sticker of AUD400,000. At today’s exchange rates, that translates into roughly $350,000 and $313,000. Quite some difference from what we’re used to seeing right?

Just to get an idea, you can find a Ferrari 360 in the US for as low as $60,000 so yeah, if the two charred relics were located anywhere else in the world, the damages might’ve been a lot lower.

That’s of little help to the owners anyway, that now have to take things up with the insurance companies. It might help that the Police is looking into the matter as if it was an arson attack but still, they have a long way to go until they see a penny.

The duo was apparently kept in the parking lot of a company that sells high-end luxury cars and one of them had actually been sold when the unfortunate accident happened, being confined to the lot until paperwork was done. Now that’s what I call bad luck!
